Sylco Campground

Sylco Campground

This peaceful campground is located in an isolated area near the Big Frog Wilderness. It offers 12 campsites with fire rings and picnic tables and vault toilet. Enjoy fishing in the Conasauga or Jacks rivers or enjoying the solitude of a wilderness trail in the Big Frog Wilderness.

If you place a high priority on quiet solitude and close-at-hand wilderness hiking, Sylco is just the place for you. It is located in an isolated area of the Cherokee National Forest in the extreme southeastern corner of Tennessee. You don’t have to worry about RVs or trailers coming to this campground. There are three ways to get in here, and each way is rough and remote, just like the Sylco area. Then out of nowhere, in the middle of nowhere, appears a grassy plot of land interspersed with shade trees and picnic tables. Just make sure you have all your supplies. Primarily used as a hunting camp in fall, this campground is very lightly used the rest of the year. It is so lightly used that the Forest Service doesn’t even charge campers to stay here. And only a few of the 12 sites appear to get enough use to even beat down the grass that grows around the picnic tables. Reference ~ Trails.com

Directions:  From the Ocoee Ranger Station turn right on Highway 64 and travel 4.8 miles to County road 2330 (Cookson Creek Road). Turn left and travel 3.5 miles to campground on the right.
